Daaro

Da'aro Youth Project was founded in response to the devastating loss of young lives within the London Eritrean community between 2017 and 2018. Many of these youths were unaccompanied refugees and asylum seekers who had endured traumatic journeys from the Horn of Africa to the UK, only to face additional challenges adapting to life in a new and unfamiliar environment.

Founded by Dehab Woldu and Benny Hunter, Da'aro is a community-led initiative dedicated to supporting young people arriving from Eritrea, Ethiopia, Sudan, and Somalia. Our mission is to promote their well-being by providing direct support, fostering connections, and advocating for equitable change in the face of discrimination and social isolation. We are committed to building trust, creating pathways of opportunity, and empowering these youths to overcome barriers and achieve brighter futures.

We firmly believe that building sustainable relationships of trust and support within these communities is the most effective way to empower these young individuals and help them overcome marginalisation within society.
