Our origin story
The Phoenix Way took flight in 2021, as a bold response to the stark structural inequalities confronting Black & racially minoritised communities.
What began as the Phoenix Fund in 2020, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, distributed £2.4 million in emergency funding to empower grassroots groups.
In 2021, we evolved into The Phoenix Way Partnership, with an unwavering mission to dismantle systemic racism in philanthropy and drive lasting, transformative change. Over £5m will have been granted to communities in 2023/24.
