ABOUT THE FUND
Across the UK, young people are at the forefront of social justice movements, from organising racial justice and climate action to campaigning for migrant rights, educational equity, and mental health. They show vision and courage in demanding change and building a more just future.
At the same time, systemic racism continues to shape the everyday experiences of Black and racially minoritised young people in education, policing, health, employment and more. These injustices are structural and ongoing and young people are often left to resist them with minimal resources.
Future Phoenix Racial Justice Fund is a youth-led fund designed and led by and for Black and racially minoritised young people across England and Wales. Led by the Future Phoenix Steering Group, the fund aims to centre youth-led and regionally rooted responses to racial injustice.
With £140,000 funding available, Future Phoenix seeks to resource young people, not just to survive injustice but to lead the change. We believe that in order to have long-term systemic change, we must resource young people who are at the forefront of tackling systemic racism.
Our fund wants to resource groups that are focused on addressing the root causes of systemic racism and not just its systems.
We are looking to fund bold and innovative work by Black and racially minoritised young people who are challenging injustice at its roots, not just treating its symptoms.
At The Phoenix Way, we believe in the power of community-led initiatives to drive change and create lasting impact. Our open grants are designed to support Black and racially minoritised-led organisations that are working to dismantle systemic racism and build sustainable futures for their communities.
