A moment with Rowan Carr, Living while black. Healing circles
By Drew Sinclair
Let me begin at the end.
I was asked toward the end of our Living While Black sessions to close my eyes and gently bring someone to the foreground of my mind, someone that inspires me, someone that I feel proud of, someone who I aspire to be like. I breathed in deeply, exhaled long and slow, and a name came to me with speed and grace, like the cosmic stardust that began all this. The name was Rowan Carr.
When I first heard about the healing while black course, my imagination took me to a place of politics and policies, a place of the mind, but fortunately, I was wrong. In the sessions created and guided by Rowan, I was transported to a place of texture and nimble forces, a place of magic, ancestors, and Love.
My mind was enlivened with the imaginings of characters that lived in a realm of multiple dimensions, characters that have a seed of something higher planted within their fibres. The desire to heal, to grow from this sensitive seed began to turn and bend within me as I breathed deeply, swinging my arms like a tree in the wind, releasing tension and stress like seeds into the wild with every twist of my spine. My corners stretch outwards from within, reaching for something more, guided by invisible fingers that seemed to know exactly what I needed to heal.
The Mineral kingdom of Earth is salt, mercury and Sulphur. The building blocks of stones and crystals live in the elements of our physical body, making us one with the earthly world. It is the body that breathes, digests, and holds the life forces of consciousness. It is the body that opens wide in the arms of movement and Love and then softens in its embrace when it finally returns to the mineral realm, where it releases the forces of life. But before that happens, Rowan has reminded me to be present and alive with health and Joy right now.
I am a visual person, so I have done some drawings to express and explore ideas and teachings from the sessions with Rowan. I hope you enjoy them.
