Smart Peepz
Smart Peepz was founded to provide opportunities for children and young people in Sheffield from underprivileged backgrounds. Based at the Spartan House in Burngreave, Smart Peepz now delivers a wide range of projects and services across local communities. The organisation focuses on supporting those most in need, including young people with disabilities or additional needs.
Smart Peepz also provides after-school clubs, holiday play and youth activities, youth clubs, disability-specific activities, detached youth projects, and information, advice, and support for vulnerable young people. It offers mentoring and personal development programmes, inclusive doorstep sports clubs, and outward-bound activities and experiences.
The vision of Smart Peepz is for all children and young people, regardless of background, ability, or disability, to reach their full potential, build self-esteem, and support those around them. Its mission is to provide fully inclusive experiences and opportunities for children and young people in Sheffield and surrounding areas to flourish, overcome challenges, and achieve positive outcomes that change lives.
Working from its base in Burngreave, Smart Peepz engages the wider community across Sheffield, starting with children as young as five and continuing through the transition to early adulthood. The organisation focuses on early intervention and continuous support for vulnerable and disadvantaged young people.
Smart Peepz concentrates on four key areas of work:
Bright Start: Opening doors and expanding horizons by helping young people grow in confidence and overcome challenges through targeted youth work, mentoring, personal development, outward-bound activities, confidence building, and employability programmes.
Determination: Providing young people with disabilities and additional needs with new experiences and opportunities to overcome challenges and build independence through centre-based workshops, after-school clubs, life-skills and education projects, short breaks, holiday clubs, trips, inclusive multi-sports, and arts projects.
Growing Together: Creating places of safety and belonging where children, young people, and the wider community can come together and learn through family days, community events, adventure play, team games, drop-in sports projects, open access play schemes, day trips, and experiences.
Reaching Out: Working in the heart of local communities to support young people away from gangs, crime, and anti-social behaviour through detached outreach work, street-work, crime reduction programmes, and in-school workshops on youth violence prevention and online safety.
Smart Peepz continues to support and empower young people by providing diverse interventions and support services designed to help them thrive and reach their full potential.
