Our Pain 2 Power
Our Pain 2 Power is an alternative learning provision that offers programmes and workshops designed to reduce youth violence and vulnerability to criminal behaviour, develop self-love and confidence, and equip young people with leadership and employability skills.
The initiative aims to build young leaders in the community and create relatable role models. It supports its beneficiaries through a range of creative self-development workshops and tailored one-to-one preventive mentorship, reducing vulnerability to youth violence, criminal exploitation, and the influence of gang culture.
The preventive mentors at Our Pain 2 Power have professional and intensive personal lived experiences of the challenges facing young people today. These mentors have turned their pain into power and now serve as relatable role models and agents of change within their communities. Their stories are showcased as real-life examples of individuals who have transformed their lives and are making meaningful contributions to their communities.
Our Pain 2 Power works together with communities to develop the very best solutions for local challenges. Its vision is for a more equitable London, free of youth violence. The mission is to empower young Londoners to build self-worth and confidence, enabling them to thrive and become relatable role models and leaders in their communities.
The organisation is guided by core values that include:
Relatable: Always being authentic and championing lived experiences.
Support: Providing wrap-around support and embedding peer mentorship.
Learning: Co-designing with beneficiaries to ensure their voices are at the heart of all initiatives.
Forgiveness, Compassion, and Belief: Upholding the power of change as a guiding principle.
Acknowledging that adolescence can be a particularly challenging time marked by social problems, emotional changes, and educational challenges, Our Pain 2 Power recognizes the significant impact that the right support system can have on the psychological wellbeing of young people. Through its comprehensive programmes and the strength of its mentors’ lived experiences, the organisation provides the support necessary to transform pain into power, helping young people navigate their challenges and emerge as strong, confident leaders.
Our Pain 2 Power continues to work with communities, ensuring that young people receive the support they need to overcome their challenges and build a better future.
